Near the medieval fortress town of Pitigliano perched dramatically atop a tufa plateau, this secluded hillside house is built of tufa stone. Its extensive grounds feature a pool and a gorgeous view of the Fiora valley.
Although the house is so private that you have no neighbors, it is not out of the way: Pitigliano is only a five-minute drive, with numerous quaint shops in the fascinating old center of town, restaurants, supermarkets, the Orsini castle with its old library, the Etruscan collection, the old ghetto.
A small living room with an open fireplace, a cozy sofa, a dining table with benches. Two steps up take you into the bedrooms. A wooden staircase leads to an open loft with a bed; a second bed can be arranged on request.
The house is furnished in the Italian countryhouse style, with terra cotta floors, dark ceiling beams, a brick-and-wood Tuscan kitchen, classic floral draperies and linens.
"A dramatic town," GEO writes about Pitigliano, pulsating with Italian life, centrally located for excursions into la Bella Maremma.
